Apple has sent invites for a ‘special Apple event’ on October 13, which is probably going to be the iPhone 12 launch event. Apple invites often contain hints about what to expect, but this Apple event invite just shows a series of circles, and therefore the words “Hi, Speed.” that would be a touch towards 5G speeds, because the new iPhone 12 models are expected to support high-speed 5G connectivity. The event will happen on October 13, at 10 am PDT, or 10.30 pm IST. Apple hasn’t shared any longer details, but we will safely expect the whole iPhone lineup to be revealed at the Apple event on October 13.
There are a variety of leaks about the upcoming Apple event, and apart from the standard models of the iPhone, there are rumors that the iPhone 12 lineup also will include an iPhone 12 Mini, or four variants in total — the iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max, and iPhone 12 Mini. consistent with leaks, the Mini will have a 5.4-inch display, while the iPhone 12 features a 6.1-inch display.
Other reports suggest that the upcoming iPhone 12 models could be costlier than in previous years. Although early speculation suggested a price of $699 to $749 (roughly Rs. 51,300 to Rs. 55,000) later leaks have suggested that the Bill of Materials (BOM) has gone up for the iPhone 12, and it could start at $749. This increase is believed to flow from to the support for 5G on the phone. At an equivalent time, some leaks suggest that only the iPhone 12 Pro Max will accompany the faster mmWave 5G technology, while other models of the phone will support the more common Sub-6GHz 5G.
Of course, the worth of the phones, once they come to India, won’t be an immediate conversion from the dollar value but are going to be higher as other costs including shipping, customs, taxes, and more got to be factored into the equation also.
It is also expected that Apple won’t include a charging cable with the iPhones. Apple has already started removing chargers from its products as we saw with the Apple Watch Series 6 and Apple Watch SE models, also because of the new iPad. Although some people see this as unnecessary cut, for people that are already a neighborhood of Apple’s ecosystem, this might hamper on clutter and waste, some have argued.
Beyond that we all know a couple of more details about the upcoming iPhones — a leak about the iPhone 12 Pro hints at a LiDAR camera, and a separate leak suggests that the phones won’t accompany 120Hz displays.
