Check CBSE 10th Science Board Exam 2021 unit-wise weightage and question paper format:

  • Total marks: 80
  • Time: 3 hours

Section A (Total Weightage = 32 Marks)

14, 15 & 16 — Assertion Reason = 3 marks
17, 18, 19, 20 — Passage/Figure/Graph Based MCQs = 4 Mark each with internal choice = 16 marks

Section B (Total Weightage = 12 marks)

Six questions 2 marks each = 12 marks
Two internal Choice Questions – Q21 and 23

Section C (Total Weightage = 21 Marks)

Seven questions carrying 3 marks each = 21 marks
One Internal Choice Question – Q27

Section D (Total Weightage = 15 Marks)

Three questions carrying 5 marks each = 15 marks. One internal choice question.

Total questions – 36 | Time – 3 hours

Here is the analysis by Mayank Dhawan, Former Asst. Professor, University of Delhi, Founder, Proscience:

The board exam (2019-2020) had only 29 questions in Section A (VSA, MCQ, Assertion Reason) having only 20 questions (including subparts).

This year, there are 32 questions (including subparts) in Section A. Out of these, 16 marks questions include VSA, MCQ, Assertion Reason but the rest 16 marks questions are from the given passage, figure, or graph in form of MCQs.
Also, there were no 2 marks questions in last year’s board pattern, this year, there are 6 questions having two marks each. There is a reduction in the number of 3 marks and 5 marks questions from the previous year’s pattern.

Since there is more weightage of objective type questions this year and introduction of 2 marks questions in the paper will make the paper lengthy. If you waste too much time in Section A thinking between options, you might be left with less time for other sections.

Thorough practice and solving practice papers will help you ace the final exam.
