For the second year in a row, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will not be releasing the merit list of students for the CBSE Class 10 and 12 results 2021. This decision has been made due to the current pandemic situation and the changes in the evaluation criteria.
CBSE last announced the toppers of Class 10 and 12 board exams in 2019. Unfortunately, no merit list was released in 2020 due to the uncertain situation caused by the pandemic. In 2019, 97 Class 10 students were in the top three positions, while 23 Class 12 students were in the top three positions.
Last year, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the CBSE Class 10 and 12 board exams were not conducted for some of the subjects. In certain areas of Delhi, the exams for some subjects had to be postponed due to the northeast Delhi riots.’
This year and the CBSE Class 10 and 12 board exams 2021 stand cancelled for all the subjects because of the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic. This year, the board exams for both classes were scheduled to commence from May 4, 2021.
CBSE Class 10, 12 Results 2021: Evaluation criteria
This year, after the CBSE board exams 2021 were cancelled for Classes 10 and 12, the board decided on the special evaluation criteria. As a result, the students will be marked, and the results for this academic year will be calculated.
For Class 12 students, CBSE set up a 40:30:30 marking scheme, where 30 per cent marks will be allotted to the annual exams of Class 10, 30 per cent marks will be for the annual exams of Class 11, and 40 per cent marks will be for Class 12 pre-board exams.
For Class 10 students, CBSE proposed that 80:20 criteria be followed. According to this, the students will be awarded 20 per cent marks according to their internal assessment, and 80 per cent of marks will be for pre-board and unit tests throughout the year.
As per the direction of the Supreme Court, the CBSE Class 10 and 12 results 2021 are expected to be released by July 25. The official date and time for the same have not been notified by the board yet, but it is expected to be announced soon.
