NEW DELHI: The number of cases reported in India now stands at 14,425, of which 11,892 are active cases, according to the ministry of health. A total of 488 people have died from the infection so far. Across the world, coronavirus deaths passed 154,000 on Friday, while in the US the number of infected patients touched the 710,000-mark.

World coronavirus deaths surged past 154,000 Friday as US President Donald Trump accused China of continuing to cover up its toll. More than half of humanity — 4.5 billion people — were confined to their homes, with evidence mounting of social distancing’s success in slowing the pandemic. More than 2.2 million cases of COVID-19 have been reported in 193 countries and territories. The US recorded the highest number of cases and deaths of any country in the world with 710,272 cases and 37,175 deaths.
26 Navy personnel test positive at Mumbai’s Naval Base
In a major outbreak in the Indian Navy, at least 26 sailors have tested positive for the highly contagious coronavirus in Mumbai, which comes at a time when COVID-19 has adversely hit operations of at least four US and one French nuclear-powered aircraft carriers.
Sources said the sailors, who are from the main shore-based logistics depot INS Angre of the Western Naval Command, have been quarantined at the naval hospital INHS Ashwiniin Mumbai.
