ALIA CONFIRMS SHE IS COVID POSITIVE

Alia Bhatt confirmed with a post on Instagram last week that she has tested positive for Covid-19. She tested positive days after her boyfriend Ranbir Kapoor tested negative for the virus. “Hello all, I have tested positive for Covid-19. I have immediately isolated myself and will be under home quarantine. I am following all safety protocols under the advice of my doctors. Grateful for all your love & support. Please stay safe & take care (sic),” the statement read.

Alia Bhatt is currently awaiting the release of her film Gangubai Kathiawadi which is scheduled to hit the screens on July 31. Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the actress will be playing the titular role.

In the last couple of days, a slew of Bollywood celebrities including Ranbir Kapoor, Paresh Rawal, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Kartik Aaryan, Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar among others has tested positive for the virus in the second wave. The state of Maharashtra has witnessed a massive increase in the number of Covid-19 cases and the government has announced some curbs to tackle the situation. The release dates of several films had to be postponed because of the rise in cases. This comes as a massive blow to the film industry which had just about started getting back on its feet after the first wave was over.
