Dumka: Court sentenced the convict to life imprisonment in the case of raping a minor

This is the case of 2016, where Manoj Kumar Singh, the father of three children, raped a minor and later continued to have a relationship by luring the marriage.

In Dumka, the district court has sentenced the convict to life imprisonment in a case of raping a minor. Along with this, the court has also imposed a fine of 20 thousand rupees. This sentence has been given by the court of Special Judge cum First Upper District Judge Tawfikul Hasan.

This is the case of 2016, where Manoj Kumar Singh, the father of three children, raped a minor and later continued to have a relationship by luring the marriage. The minor gave birth to a child. After this, the girl made pressure for marriage, then Manoj beat her up and drove her away. In 2018, the victim had filed a case with the Mufassil police station.

The prosecution presented a total of 11 witnesses in the court, on the basis of which the court sentenced Manoj Kumar Singh to life imprisonment and fine of Rs 20,000. Non-payment of fine will result in imprisonment for three years. Public prosecutor Dinesh Kumar Ojha was on behalf of the prosecution while Varun Mandal pleaded the case on behalf of the defense.

At the same time, last month, Chief Minister Hemant Soren has approved the proposal to set up the bench of Jharkhand High Court in Dumka district. In this, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary, where the building construction department in Dumka district was directed to mark the land for setting up the bench of the High Court. Chief Minister Hemant Soren approved the proposal related to it. It is to be known that apart from the head bench in Ranchi district of Jharkhand High Court, no bench is functioning in any district of the state.
