Ravindra Jadeja ended 2020 on a high note by playing a pivotal role in India’s historic 8-wicket win in the Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). He has now started 2021 on an even better note. Day 2 of the ongoing third Test between India and Australia was dominated by the brilliance of the star all-rounder.
The 32-year-old opened floodgates after dismissing Marnus Labuschagne on 91. Australia were sitting comfortably at 206 for 3 when Labuscgange departed but Jadeja’s initiative saw Indian bounce back handsomely to bundle out Australia for 338. The left-arm spinner dismissed Matthew Wade next before getting Pat Cummins and Nathan Lyon to end up with bowling figures of 4 for 62 in 18 overs.
However, fans are calling for a rule change and suggesting that Ravindra Jadeja got a five-wicket haul! Why?! It is because of his one-handed rocket throw from square leg region to run-out Steve Smith, who was batting on 131 and looking to stretch his team’s total to the maximum. Fans want ‘Jadeja run-outs’ to feature in his wicket column.
“I just picked the ball and though of throwing it as fast as I can. The thinking was simple,” Jadeja said when asked about his fielding brilliance.
