Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli has joined the team bio-bubble in Chennai ahead of the start of the Indian Premier League 2021. The India skipper, who led the team to series wins against England over the last two months, where they won the Tests, T20Is and the ODI series, will now look to get RCB their maiden IPL title.
The franchise on Thursday announced the arrival of Kohli in Chennai. He joined the team’s bio-bubble and will quarantine in his hotel room for the next 7 days before starting his preparations for the upcoming IPL 2021.
“If you thought we were done breaking the internet for the day, think again! Captain Virat Kohli Crown has arrived in Chennai,” RCB posted on Twitter.
Virat Kohli left the Team India bio-bubble in Pune on Monday after India’s ODI series win against England.
He has been part of bio-secure bubbles since the end of January, ahead of the England series, and was part of each of the four Tests, five T20 Internationals and three ODIs.
Earlier in the day, former South Africa captain and Kohli’s deputy at RCB, AB de Villiers also arrived in Chennai and went into quarantine for 7 days in the team hotel before starting preparations for IPL 2021.
Referring to him as an alien, RCB’s Twitter handle described de Villiers’s arrival as that of an extraterrestrial being.
“BREAKING THE INTERNET: The spaceship has landed! AB de Villiers has joined the RCB bubble in Chennai,” RCB tweeted.
