West Indies captain Kieron Pollard on Saturday became only the third overseas player after Chris Gayle and AB de Villiers to hit 200 sixes in the Indian Premier League. Pollard got to the landmark during Mumbai Indians’ 3rd match of IPL 2021 against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Chennai.
Kieron Pollard is overall the 6th batter to get past 200 sixes in the IPL. Chris Gayle leads the list by a big margin as he has hit 351 sixes, 114 more than 2nd-placed AB de Villiers. Rohit Sharma is third on the list followed by MS Dhoni. Pollard went level with Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli after finishing the Mumbai Indians innings on Saturday with 201 sixes.

Kieron Pollard came up with a blinder on a sluggish MA Chidambaram Stadium pitch as he hit 35 from just 22 balls, lifting the Mumbai Indians’ total to 150. 49 runs were added in the last 5 overs after Sunrisers Hyderabad put the brakes on Mumbai’s scoring rate in the middle overs, thanks to the big-hitting masterclass from Pollard. The West Indies superstar hit 3 sixes on Saturday.
Most sixes in the IPL
Chris Gayle – 351 sixes in 134 matches
AB de Villiers – 237 sixes in 171 matches

MS Dhoni – 216 sixes in 206 matches

Earlier in the day, Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma broke MS Dhoni’s record for the most number of sixes by an Indian batter in the IPL. With 2 sixes in the innings on Saturday, Rohit went past the Chennai Super Kings captain.
