1. An update
The original design of the Ram Temple, formulated in 1988, is set to be upgraded, with an increase of 20 feet taking the total height of the structure to 161 feet.
As part of the upgrade, most of the structure remains untouched, except the addition of two new ‘mandaps’ in view of the increased footfall architects are expecting.
Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teertha Kshetra Trust, the people entrusted with building the temple, has set one of two days to lay the foundation stone.
Once work begins – with construction crews and equipment from L&T already in place – the construction of the temple is expected to take around three to three and a half years to complete.
The legality of the Ayodhya temple site has been in contention for well over two decades, with the Supreme Court ruling in favour of the Ram Temple only last year.
