Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath are criticizing Kerala without knowing any facts.

‘Policies by Congress started farmer suicides’

“Rahul Gandhi conducted a tractor rally at Wayanad and swam in the sea with the fishermen in Kollam. I am very thankful for this interest he is showing towards Kerala. However, 70 people died in the Delhi farmers’ protest. He simply ignored that and declared his support for the farmers in Kerala,” said Pinarayi Vijayan.

”The policies and governance reforms executed by the Congress government started the suicides of farmers in the country. Farmer suicides in India startle the world following the neo-liberal policies in the 1990s. Farmers could not keep up with the unfair competition of the market. According to the National Crime Records Bureau, more than 300,000 farmers committed suicide during that period. It continues to the present day,” said the Kerala CM.

Pinarayi Vijayan said that the main crops in Wayanad, Rahul Gandhi’s constituency, was coffee and pepper. He should have first investigated how it broke down. According to the senior journalist, P.Sainath, coffee and pepper farming in Wayanad suffered a loss of Rs 6,000 crore from the year 2000 to 2005. following this crisis thousands of farmers and farm workers committed suicide. “Without realizing these facts, Rahul Gandhi can’t understand why farmers are protesting at the capital despite the severe cold,” said Vijayan.

“All this happened as a result of the anti-farmer policies implemented by the Congress government. So, Rahul Gandhi should apologize on behalf of the Congress party and change the policies,” Pinarayi Vijayan added.

‘Kerala a model state for eradicating corruption’

Meanwhile, Kerala CM also hit out at Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s statement where he said that Kerala lags in various factors.

“Rahul Gandhi said the same thing in a different way. When it comes to fighting against CPI(M), Congress and BJP have the same thinking,” said Pinarayi Vijayan

”Many people are criticizing that there is anarchy in Kerala, but they don’t know any facts. Kerala is a model state for eradicating corruption. According to a Corruption Survey conducted by the Centre for Media Studies and Transparency International in 2019, Kerala is the least corrupt state in the country. But BJP MLA Shyam Prakash said that UP has the highest level of corruption in India. Last month UP electricity Minister Shrikant Sharma commented that most of the corruption is prevalent in his department,” Kerala CM explained.

‘No communal riots in Kerala in last five years’

UP CM also alleged recently that the youth in Kerala are leaving the country to get jobs.

“Educated young people can look for jobs anywhere in the world because they have the ability. But 15 per cent of the migrant labourers in Kerala are from Uttar Pradesh. And the Kerala Government provides them excellent facilities including insurance coverages,” Pinarayi Vijayan pointed out.

Another allegation by the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister was that the Kerala government is trying to divide the Malayalee people. But Kerala Chief Minister defended the allegation. He said that in the last five years, no communal riots have taken place in Kerala.

“Uttar Pradesh is the state with the highest number of communal riots in the country. UP is also the state with the highest number of murders and violence against women. According to the National Crime Records Bureau’s 2017 report, 4,324 murders happened in Uttar Pradesh in a year,” Pinarayi Vijayan said
