Chandro Tomar, one of the two popular Shooter Dadis, died of Covid-19 on Friday (April 30). Taapsee Pannu, who played the role of Prakashi Tomar in her film Saand Ki Aankh, took to social media to pay her tribute. Bhumi Pednekar played Chandro Tomar in the film. Chandro and Prakashi are known as Shooter Dadis as they picked up the gun for the first time when they were above 60. They then went on to win many national-level competitions.
TAAPSEE PANNU CALLS CHANDRO TOMAR AN INSPIRATION
Taapsee Pannu played the role of Prakashi Tomar in Tusshar Hiranandani’s Sand Ki Aankh. The film follows Chandro Tomar and Prakashi Tomar, two senior shooters and sisters-in-law from Baghpat in Uttar Pradesh, who started shooting when they were above 60. They won many national-level competitions defeating some shooters who had been practising the sport for years. Chandro Tomar died of Covid-19 on April 30.
Sharing a photo of herself with Chandro Tomar, Taapsee wrote, “For the inspiration, you will always be… You will live on forever in all the girls you gave hope to live. My cutest rockstar May the victory and peace be with you (sic).”
CHANDRO TOMAR WAS ADMITTED TO MEERUT HOSPITAL FOR COVID-19
Chandro Tomar, also known as Shooter Dadi, had tested positive for Covid-19 and was admitted to a Meerut hospital due to difficulty in breathing on April 26. The Twitter page of the 89-year-old legendary shooter posted the development. Chandro and Prakashi Tomar are believed to be some of the oldest woman sharpshooters in the world.
