Sisodia wants new Covid rule scrapped, says ‘not a fight between Shah’s model and Kejriwal’s model’

Coronavirus India News Live Updates: Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia Wednesday said that he has written to Home Minister Amit Shah to request him to scrap the new system requiring every Covid-19 patient to visit a government-run center for clinical assessment. He said that the new system puts pressure on the government’s facilities with the rising number of cases and that there would be chaos in the city in the next few days if it was not scrapped.

This is not a fight between Shah’s model and Kejriwal’s model, he said, adding that there should be a system in which people don’t face problems.

With India reporting 465 deaths and 1,59,68 fresh cases in the last 24 hrs, the total number of COVID-19 infections on Wednesday crossed the 4.57 lakh-mark to reach 457,656 including 14,505 casualties, 184,008 active cases and 259,143 people who have been treated and discharged. Even as there has been a consistent surge in the number of coronavirus cases, the number of recoveries continues to be higher than active cases by a margin of 75,662 today.

Globally, over 9.38 million people are infected with the virus and 480,435 have died, with the United States recording the maximum number of cases (2,424,493), followed by Brazil (1,152,066), Russia (606,881) and India at 457,656 cases. As many as 5,072,596 people have recovered globally.
