Sunrisers Hyderabad’s decision to exclude David Warner from the playing XI against Rajasthan Royals, after stripping him of the SRH captaincy has been met with sharp criticism from the fans on social media.
Sunrisers Hyderabad fans have urged the SRH team management to reinstate ex-captain David Warner in their playing XI for IPL 2021 match against Mumbai Indians. Warner remains one of the finest batters in the world, an iconic player in the Indian Premier League and a fan favourite.
Warner, who led SRH to their maiden IPL title triumph in 2016, might not make it back in the playing XI in the near future as SRH head coach Trevor Bayliss hinted that he may not feature in the upcoming matches as well. Now as SRH gear up for the clash against Mumbai Indians on Tuesday, ‘#BringBackWarner’ is trending:
Notably, Warner handed over the captain’s job to New Zealand star Kane Williamson just a day before Match 29 against Rajasthan Royals, who won the contest by 55 runs. He was seen carrying drinks and doing 12th-man duties on the sidelines during the match.
The decision to make Williamson the skipper for the remainder of this season came after SRH lost 5 out of their first-6 matches under Warner and dropped to the last position on the points table. The left-handed batsman was in decent form with the bat, having scored 132 runs in the 6 games at an average of 32.16 with 2 fifties but it’s his strike rate (110.28) that has been a big cause of concern for the Sunrisers.
