Ahead of election for the post of Bihar assembly Speaker, senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi has alleged that jailed Lalu Prasad was trying to poach NDA MLAs in an attempt to topple the Nitish Kumar government.
The former deputy CM on Wednesday tweeted a purported audio clip where the RJD supremo is allegedly trying to lure a BJP leader, saying he would be made a minister if he abstains from the Speaker’s election in the Bihar assembly.
In the audio clip, shared by Sushil Kumar Modi, jailed RJD leader Lalu Prasad’s is apparently telling BJP MLA Lallan Yadav to remain absent on voting day on the pretext of the pandemic.
“We will make you minister. In tomorrow’s election of Speaker, you will have to support us. Once the speaker goes then we will see,” says Lalu Prasad. After the BJP leader shows reluctance saying he is in the party, Lalu Prasad says, “Absent ho jao. Corona ho gaya tha.”

Sushil Modi accuses Lalu Prasad Yadav of trying to ‘buy’ NDA MLAs
Earlier, Sushil Modi had shared a mobile number and alleged that Lalu Prasad had access to a phone despite serving sentences in fodder scam cases.
“Lalu Yadav making telephone call (xxxxxxxxx) from Ranchi to NDA MLAs & promising ministerial berths. When I telephoned, Lalu directly picked up. I said don’t do these dirty tricks from jail, you will not succeed,” Sushil Modi wrote on Twitter.

Lalu Prasad is in Ranchi, where he has been sentenced by a special CBI court in a number of fodder scam cases. Initially lodged at the Hotwar Central Jail, he was moved to the RIMS hospital in the Jharkhand capital on medical grounds. For the last few months, he has been putting up at the bungalow allotted to the Director of RIMS.
Sushil Kumar Modi, who has been replaced as Bihar Deputy Chief Minister, is known to be a strident critic of the RJD supremo. He was one of the petitioners on whose PIL the Patna High Court had ordered, in the 1990s, handing over of the fodder scam to the CBI.
RJD refutes Sushil Modi’s allegations
The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) rejected Sushil Modi’s claims as party spokesperson Mrityunjay Tiwari said on Tuesday, “There is always a danger to a government with a managed mandate. Sushil Modi is accepting this and he is afraid that the NDA government can fall anytime. Sushil Modi is making unreasonable allegations to deviate from the real issues, he has been removed from the post of Deputy Chief Minister, that’s why he is making sensational allegations to remain in news”
