Suvendu goes temple-hopping in Nandigram, Jai Shri Ram chants roar as he performs havan

BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari performed a 'havan' in Nandigram on Friday morning ahead of filing his nomination papers for the Bengal assembly election. Suvendu Adhikari visited temples in Nandigram and chanted ‘Jai Shri Ram’ slogans while slamming CM Mamata Banerjee and TMC.

BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari performed a ‘havan’ in Nandigram on Friday morning ahead of filing his nomination papers for the Bengal assembly election. Suvendu Adhikari visited temples in Nandigram and chanted ‘Jai Shri Ram’ slogans while slamming CM Mamata Banerjee and TMC.

Suvendu Adhikari also met locals during his Nandigram tour on Friday and said that Mamata Banerjee remembers Nandigram every five years but is a local, a voter from the region.

“My relationship with them is very old. Mamata Banerjee remembers them every five years during the election. They will defeat her. I am also filing my nomination today. I am a voter of Nandigram,” said Suvendu.

‘Jai Shri Ram’ slogans were chanted at the Janki Temple as Suvendu Adhikari performed the ‘havan’ offering prayers to Ram and Sita. Suvendu said, “This election will be fought on vikas (development). This is my temple.”

At the Singhabahini temple, Suvendu Adhikari said, “This is the Durga temple and I come here every time. This is about ‘astha’. This is not the first time I have come here.”

In between the temple run, Suvendu also visited the Shaheed Bedi in Nandigram, which was also visited by Mamata Banerjee a few days back. When asked about Mamata’s visit, Suvendu said he had built the memorial in memory of the people who died during the Nandigram movement in 2007.

Almost an hour before filing his nomination for the Nandigram battle, Suvendu Adhikari said ‘bhagwaan mere saath hai’ while speaking to India Today TV during his visit to the Jankinath temple in Nandigram on Friday.

Suvendu Adhikari will lead a rally with Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Smriti Irani before submitting his nomination at the State Development Officer’s office in Haldia on Friday.

Suvendu Adhikari, who was on a temple-hopping spree since Thursday, visited the Shinghabahini temple and offered prayers at the Jankinath temple in Nandigram. While at the Jankinath temple, which is a temple of Ram and Sita, ‘Jai Shri Ram’ slogans were chanted while Suvendu Adhikari performed a havan at the temple.
