Jio has introduced a WhatsApp number for users to make recharges for prepaid, postpaid and broadband, to get new SIM cards, support for international roaming and to even lodge complaints if users are not happy with their current services. Prepaid Jio users can share their number along with the tariff plan and also ask the executive on WhatsApp to send details as per the user’s requirement.
Users can make payments using various options like JioPay, Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, Amazon Pay, among others. As of now, the Jio executive supports Hindi and English languages. Jio users can follow the given steps to launch Jio Support on WhatsApp.
— Jio customers should save the JioCare number 7000770007 on their phone. Once they have saved the number, send a Hi on WhatsApp to find a chatbot named JioCare.
— The main menu option will be sent to users via WhatsApp and users who need to get their recharges done should select the Jio SIM Recharge option.
— Jio users can also choose from additional services mentioned above including “Get new Jio SIM or Port-In (MNP)”, “Support for Jio SIM”, “Support for International Roaming”, “Support for JioMart”, and “Support for JioFiber” as per their requirement.
— If users find a suitable recharge plan via WhatsApp, they will be redirected to Jio’s official website for payment. If you are unsure about what tariff plan is right for you, you can even ask the executive on WhatsApp to send details according to your connection type.
The arrival of Jio services on WhatsApp is a result of the investment Facebook made in Reliance Jio. Last year, Facebook, which owns WhatsApp, bought a 9.99 per cent stake in Reliance Jio for around Rs 43,574 crore making the social media giant the biggest minority stakeholder in Jio Platforms.
Some prepaid plans from Jio are priced at a lesser cost than Airtel and Vi. The plans are priced at Rs 50 less and offer the same amount of data. Jio is also said to be working on its indigenous tools and technologies following the Made-In-India approach. It is speculated that Reliance may announce its plans for a 5G rollout at the AGM. The AGM is slated for June 24 at 2 PM. It is likely to be live-streamed on YouTube for the public. Jio is speculated to launch the low-cost 5G smartphone backed by Google as well as an affordable laptop likely to be named JioBook soon.
