Uddhav Thackery, Ajit Pawar meet PM Modi, Maratha quota, cyclone relief on agenda

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi on Tuesday morning. Uddhav Thackeray was accompanied by Deputy CM Ajit Pawar and Cabinet minister Ashok Chavan.

The PMO shared a photograph from the meeting saying, “Chief Minister of Maharashtra Shri Uddhav Thackeray, Deputy Chief Minister Shri @AjitPawarSpeaks and Cabinet Minister Shri @AshokChavanINC called on PM @narendramodi. @OfficeofUT @CMOMaharashtra.”

The ministers were expected to discuss issues like the Maratha quota and financial aid for cyclone relief measures in the meeting with PM Modi.

State Home Minister Dilip Walse Patil had said on Monday that CM Uddhav Thackeray will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and discuss issues like the Maratha quota and financial aid for cyclone relief measures.

The meeting is taking place over a month after the Supreme Court squashed a 2018 law providing reservation to the Maratha community in jobs and education in the state.

Walse Patil told reporters that during the meeting with PM Modi, Thackeray will discuss issues like the Maratha quota, OBC reservation, financial aid for cyclone Tauktae relief measures and GST refund, among others.
