Uttar Pradesh students of classes 1 to 8 to be promoted without exams

All students of classes 1 to 8 studying in UP government schools would be promoted to the next class without appearing for any exams.

All students of classes 1 to 8 studying in UP government schools would be promoted to the next class without appearing for any exams. Director General School Education Vijay Kiran Anand issued instructions in this regard to all District Basic Education Officers on Tuesday.

The order also states that the new academic session would begin on April 1, 2021. The promoted children will be evaluated and tested for the competencies of the previous class at the end of April.

The annual examination of children from classes 1 to 8 in the council schools was to be held on March 25 and 26.

UP schools closed till March 31

As per orders from CM Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh schools would be closed from March 24 to 31 for classes 1 to 8 due to the sudden spike in Covid-19 cases in India. Holi vacation has also been declared for this period.

The CM has directed that all other educational institutions where exams would be held between March 25 and 31 would remain open only for the exams. Schools for classes 9 to 12 and higher education institutions where exams are not scheduled will remain closed from March 25 to 31.
