Bengal BJP leader Dilip Ghosh has called TMC MP and popular actor Nusrat Jahan ‘a fraud’ amid the ongoing controversy surrounding her marriage with Nikhil Jain.
On Friday, Bengal BJP president Dilip Ghosh targeted Trinamool Congress MP Nusrat Jahan by calling her a ‘fraud’ over her recent statement in which she said her marriage does not have any legal standing in India as she got married in a ceremony in Turkey.
Dilip Ghosh, who is known for his controversial remarks in the past, said that Nusrat Jahan had taken an oath in Parliament as a married woman.
“What a fraud. A person who was given a ticket by TMC took an oath, now says she was not even married. However, she wore sindoor, dragged a rath, conducted pujas, and won the election,” said Dilip Ghosh.
In 2019, Nusrat Jahan and Nikhil Jain were seen participating as a couple in the rath yatra organised by ISCKON in Kolkata. Referring to the rath yatra, Dilip Ghosh not only slammed Nusrat Jahan but also West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, who had attended Nusrat and Nikhil’s reception in 2019.
“How did Mamata Banerjee go to one’s wedding when the person was not even married. Wearing sindoor, people are getting pregnant, and then claiming to be unmarried,” stated Ghosh.
In an explosive letter, Nusrat Jahan on Wednesday claimed her marriage with businessman Nikhil Jain was not a legal marriage but a live-in relationship as their wedding in Turkey did not have recognition in Indian law.
Jahan, who is reportedly dating actor-assembly poll candidate Yash Dasgupta in recent times, said in a statement that since her marriage ceremony with Jain had taken place in accordance with Turkish Marriage Regulation, the marriage is invalid in India.
Nikhil Jain has meanwhile alleged that she had always avoided his requests to get the marriage registered. He claimed that Nusrat Jahan’s behaviour started changing towards him in August 2020 when she was shooting a film, and she left his home in November.
