OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, has launched its AI-powered video generation model, Sora. The company has announced that Sora will be available to users via ChatGPT paid subscriptions. Introduced in February this year, Sora Turbo allows users to create realistic videos from simple text descriptions. This innovative technology empowers users to bring their ideas to life with visuals, potentially revolutionising fields like marketing, education, and entertainment.
“Earlier this year, we introduced Sora, our model that can create realistic videos from text, and shared our initial research progress on world simulation. Sora serves as a foundation for AI that understands and simulates reality—an important step towards developing models that can interact with the physical world,” said the company in a blog post.
Enhanced capabilities of Sora Turbo
Building upon the groundwork laid by the earlier research preview of Sora, Sora Turbo boasts several key improvements:
* Faster processing: OpenAI has significantly improved processing speeds, allowing for quicker video generation.
* Higher resolution: Users can now create videos in resolutions up to 1080p, offering a more polished and professional look.
* Extended durations: Sora Turbo allows for creating videos up to 20 seconds long, providing more flexibility for storytelling.
All Sora-generated videos include C2PA metadata to verify their origin. Additionally, default watermarks and internal search tools help identify AI-generated content. OpenAI has also implemented safeguards to prevent malicious uses, such as the creation of child sexual abuse content or harmful deepfakes.
Subscriptions and plans
Sora Turbo is a free benefit for ChatGPT Plus and Pro subscribers. However, OpenAI hinted at plans to develop tailored pricing options for different user groups, potentially catering to professional content creators or businesses requiring more advanced features.
