X Premium subscription price in India:
X Premium+ users will now pay₹1,750 per month, up from ₹1,300. Meanwhile, the annual price for Premium+ users has also increased from to₹18,300.
Similarly, the monthly cost of X Premium Plus subscriptions has increased from $16 to $22, while the annual cost has risen from $168 to $229.
The good news is that the basic X tier and X Premium subscriptions continue at the same price as before: ₹243 and ₹650, respectively.
Why is X hiking Premium+ subscription prices?
The Elon Musk-owned platform cited three primary reasons for the drastic increase in subscriptions: zero ads, support for content creators, and new features.
“Premium+ subscribers will enjoy higher priority support from @Premium, access to new features such as Radar, and higher limits on our most cutting-edge Grok AI models, ensuring you’re always ahead of the curve. Increased pricing allows us to invest more into making Premium+ better and better over time.”
“Your subscription now more directly fuels our evolving creator program. We’ve shifted our revenue share model to reward content quality and engagement rather than ad views alone.”
Twitter has traditionally relied on revenue from advertisers to keep the platform running. However, when Elon Musk took over the platform and renamed it X, there was a mass exodus of advertisers. Musk made many changes to the platform to reduce the reliance on advertisers, including removing the old verification program and offering a blue badge only to paying X subscribers. Until recently, xAI’s Grok chatbot was also restricted to paying X members.
