iQOO Neo 9 Pro chipset, camera, battery and other details confirmed ahead of February 22 India launch

iQOO Neo 9 Pro

The iQOO Neo 9 Pro is all set to launch in India by the end of this month and the key features of the upcoming mid-range 5G phone have been confirmed ahead of the event. It will arrive in India on February 22 and it will be a successor to the iQOO Neo 7 Pro that was launched last year with a starting price of Rs 34,999. The new iQOO Neo 9 Pro will likely be priced under Rs 40,000 because this is currently the hottest segment and the company is expected to keep the pricing much lower than the OnePlus 12R just like every year to gain a competitive edge.

It is currently unknown why the company directly skipped from Neo 7 Pro to Neo 9 Pro. But, naming is not important here and the performance will decide the fate of the device. The last year’s model was quite good for the price and the new version is expected to deliver the same experience with new upgrades. Now, ahead of the launch event, Amazon has confirmed the specifications of the iQOO Neo 9 Pro.

The upcoming iQOO smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, which many flagship phones will use in 2023. The same chip is being used by the recently launched OnePlus 12R and the device costs Rs 39,999 in India. The newer Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 hasn’t been used because it is reserved for the company’s ultra-high-end iQOO 12 flagship smartphone. The Gen 2 is also quite powerful and the Neo 9 Pro is expected to offer a good performance because the chip it is using is tried and tested.

The device has a leather finish at the back with a dual-tone look. The iQOO Neo 9 Pro looks to have an attractive design, according to the teasers. There are two big cameras at the back, including a 50-megapixel Sony IMX920 main camera and an 8-megapixel wide-angle-camera. This time around, there is no third camera in the new version. The company has eliminated the macro camera that we saw on the Neo 7 Pro. But, the removal of this sensor won’t create any impact on the experience because 2-megapixel sensors don’t offer much in terms of quality. The handset will be announced in two configurations, 8GB RAM + 256GB and 12GB + 256GB.

Under the hood, there is a 5,160mAh battery. There is also support for 120W fast charging tech. The company will likely bundle chargers in the box because it hasn’t yet stopped offering one with any of its phones. The rest of the details are yet to be revealed by the company, but Amazon has mostly confirmed all the key specifications, giving us a good idea of what the smartphone will offer. There seem to be a few upgrades in departments like chipset, battery, and design if we go by the teasers.
