New Zealand pace lead Matt Henry was on Friday managed out of the World Cup with a torn right hamstring and has been supplanted by Kyle Jamieson. The 31-year-old supported the injury during New Zealand’s match against South Africa in Pune on Wednesday and a X-ray check affirming that he had a grade two lower tear, which will require at least two to about a month of recuperation time. “We’re destroyed for him,” lead trainer Gary Stead said in Bengaluru.
“Matt’s been a significant piece of our One-day side for quite a while and to see him precluded as we arrive at the business end of this competition is hugely frustrating.
“He’s reliably been positioned inside the ICC top 10 ODI bowlers for the beyond couple of years which is a demonstration of his group and abilities.
“Besides, Matt’s an incredible group man and all of us will miss his character and experience.” Jamieson arrived at Bengaluru late on Thursday and was supposed to prepare with the group on Friday.
The tall 28-year-old, who went through back a medical procedure in February, had prepared for two entire weeks with New Zealand prior in the competition after he was brought in as cover for Tim Southee.
Stead said Jamieson was all set for Saturday’s down against Pakistan.
“We’re lucky to have a player of the class of Kyle standing ready,” Stead said.
“His abilities and actual qualities generally convey him an intimidation with the ball and it’s a special reward he had the option to prepare with us in the initial fourteen days of the competition.
“Kyle’s needed to strive to get back from two separate back wounds and I realize he’s truly amped up for being engaged with his most memorable ODI World Cup.” New Zealand, who drooped to three progressive losses, as of now sit fourth on the World Cup remaining with two cooperative games staying, against Pakistan on Saturday and Sri Lanka in Thursday in Bengaluru.
