‘Detestable Way of behaving’ As Iraqi Writers Stand up to Asian Cup Mentor

Iraq’s football affiliation denounced the “despicable way of behaving” of writers who faced mentor Jesus Casas following the group’s exit in the Asian Cup keep going 16 on Monday. Iraq yielded two objectives in stoppage time in an unexpected 3-2 loss to bring down positioned Jordan in Doha. Emotions raged among a few Iraqi columnists in the post-game public interview, who pointed and yelled furiously at Casas, and moved toward him at the front of the room prior to being guided out by security. “It torments me what worked out,” the 50-year-old Spaniard, who has been Iraq mentor since November 2022, said of the turbulent scenes.

Iraq’s football affiliation put out an announcement in which it communicated its “extraordinary disappointment” at the “scene that was more difficult than the unmerited exit of our group”.

“We condemn the outright and loathsome way of behaving that happened against the mentor,” it said, promising “not to manage these media staff who try to cause disarray”.

Casas was himself irritated in Sunday’s pre-match public interview by an inquiry regarding interviews he has finished with Spanish media during the Asian Cup.

A few writers from Iraq, the country which brought home the Asian championship in 2007, accept the meetings diverted him from his work and were mostly to fault for the loss.

Casas rubbished that thought, bringing up that his group had won every one of the three of their gathering games, including beating pre-competition top choices Japan 2-1.

“Concerning my future, I’m quiet and our objective is to fit the bill for the 2026 World Cup,” Casas, a previous partner mentor to Luis Enrique at Spain’s public side, said after the Jordan misfortune.

“Anything could occur and I’m exceptionally quiet.”
