Dark Covers commander Kane Williamson and star seamer Kyle Jamieson have been removed for the three-match Twenty20 series against Bangladesh, New Zealand Cricket said Friday. In spite of being named in the first crew, Williamson will go through additional recovery after knee medical procedure last April, while Jamieson is nursing a hamstring injury, the Dark Covers said. They will be supplanted by opener Rachin Ravindra and seamer Jacob Duffy for the three Twenty20 games, beginning on December 27. Mitchell Santner replaces Williamson as the Dark Covers skipper.
Lead trainer Gary Stead said Williamson and Jamieson were removed on clinical counsel with an eye on the Test series against both South Africa, then, at that point, Australia in mid 2024.
“We need both Kane and Kyle to be in the most ideal spot driving into the following block of Test cricket,” Stead said in an explanation.
“In light of conversations with the clinical staff, it was concluded a time of recovery and molding was the most ideal choice for both.”
Williamson is supposed to return for the T20 home series in January against Pakistan, which Jamieson will likewise miss, a Dark Covers representative told AFP.
New Zealand enveloped up triumph by the one-day global series against Bangladesh by dominating both matches up until this point, in front of the third ODI in Napier on Saturday.
