Following the mixed reception of Indian 2 and Game Changer, director Shankar has set his sights on completing Indian 3. He has confirmed that work will commence shortly, and the film will be released in theatres.
Director Shankar clarified his next major project, Indian 3. In an interview, he revealed that work on the film will begin soon and is expected to be completed in six months.
In an interview with Behindwoods, he said, “I will now focus on Indian 3. We are going to start work very soon. We can complete and release it in 6 months if we start now. There is extensive VFX work and some patchwork shooting.”
Shankar recently suffered setbacks with Indian 2 and Game Changer. Although Indian 2 had a disappointing box office run, the end-credits teaser for Indian 3 has created significant buzz.
In another interview, he recently discussed the failure of Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2. Speaking to the Tamil magazine Vikatan, he said that he did not expect the negative reviews he received for Indian 2.
Director Shankar said, “I tried to convey a good thought. That way, I am happy. ‘If the house is clean, then the nation will be clean’ is a wonderful and necessary thought. Although it is a question of how it can be practically implemented, it is still important.”
Meanwhile, Lyca Productions reportedly attempted to halt the release of his recent film, Game Changer, in Tamil Nadu, citing the unfinished status of Indian 3. The production of Indian 2 also faced delays due to creative differences, but following intervention by Red Giant Movies, the film was back on track.
