Legendary Ghazal Singer Pankaj Udhas Passed Away due to Prolonged Illness

Pankaj Udas News Update: The Ghazal singer Pankaj Udas dies at the age of 72 due to pancreatic cancer. He was prominent for his songs such as ‘Chitti Aayi Hai,’ ‘Jeeye Toh Jeeye Kaise,’ ‘Chupke Chupke,’ and others. He has been suffering from this disease for a long time and finally lost hope on 26th February 2024 at Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai. He died around 11 am, and his daughter Nayab Udhas posted an official statement on Instagram confirming Pankaj Udhas death.

Veteran singer Pankaj Udhas had pancreatic cancer for a very long time, and during his last days, it was unbearable for him to suffer the pain anymore. His family is going through a rough period right now. Pankaj Udas’s daughter, Naayab Udhas, shared an official statement on Instagram this morning. Udhas’s family hailed from Charkhadi near Rajkot and were zamindars. His grandfather was the first graduate from the village and went on to become the Diwan of the Bhavnagar State. His father, Keshubhai Udhas, was a government servant and had met the renowned veena player, Abdul Karim Khan, who taught him to play the dilruba. When Udhas was a child, his father would play the dilruba, a stringed instrument. Seeing his and his brother’s interest in music, his father enrolled them at the Sangeet Academy in Rajkot. Udhas initially enrolled to learn the tabla but later began learning Hindustani vocal classical music from Ghulam Qadir Khan Sahab. Udhas then moved to Mumbai to train under the tutelage of Navrang Nagpurkar, a singer from the Gwalior Gharana.
