
Over 1,200 medical personnel will be on standby in Mahakumbhnagar to provide immediate assistance with a backup plan in place for any emergencies
All medical facilities in the Prayagraj administrative division have been put on high alert ahead of the Basant Panchami Amrit Snan at the Maha Kumbh on Monday (February 3, 2025). More than 1,200 medical personnel will be on standby in Mahakumbhnagar to provide immediate assistance with a backup plan in place in case of an emergency.
“Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has issued clear instructions to ensure the safety and well-being of crores of devotees expected to attend [the event]. As a result, more than 1,200 medical personnel are fully prepared and on standby in Mahakumbhnagar to provide immediate assistance. Additionally, the entire medical force will remain stationed at the fair until February 6, with a backup plan in place for any emergencies. Swarooprani Nehru Hospital and Tej Bahadur Sapru Hospital are also on high alert,” read a statement from the Uttar Pradesh government.
It added, “A special four-member medical team, including key officials such as Umakant Sanyal, Dr. Manoj Kaushik, Dr. Ram Singh, and Dr. Gaurav Dubey, inspected every hospital in the fair area, ensuring that all medical supplies and equipment are in place and operational. The stock of medicines and equipment at the sector hospitals built within the fair area has been thoroughly checked. Swarooprani Nehru Hospital has 500 medical staff on standby, with 150 beds reserved for emergencies. Additionally, a 200-unit blood bank has been set up and integrated into the hospital’s alarm system for quick response.”
Within the Maha Kumbh area, a comprehensive health arrangement, including a state-of-the-art 100-bed central hospital, two 25-bed sub-central hospitals, eight 20-bed sector hospitals, and two 20-bed infectious diseases hospitals, has been made. Additionally, 10 first-aid posts are operational, ensuring readiness to address any medical emergency.
“Additionally, more than 50 ambulances are ready for emergency medical transportation. The hospital’s staff, along with SDRF [State Disaster Response Force], NDRF [National Disaster Response Force], and police teams, will be working round the clock to provide medical support and assistance,” added the statement from U.P. government.
