Murder case against Indian man for stabbing wife in Canada home

A 50-year-old man from Punjab, India, has been charged with second-degree murder after his wife was found stabbed inside their home in Canada’s Abbotsford last Friday night, CTV News reported.

Police identified the victim as 41-year-old Balwinder Kaur. Jagpreet Singh, Kaur’s husband, was arrested at the scene on Saturday.

According to a statement from the Abbotsford Police Department, officers responded to reports of an assault in progress on Wagner Drive at around 10:50 PM on March 15.

Upon arrival, they found Kaur inside the residence, suffering from life-threatening stab wounds. Despite first responders’ efforts, she died shortly after being transported to the hospital.

Police have not released any information regarding a possible motive for the killing. However, they confirmed that Singh was known to the victim.

“This was an isolated incident,” said Sergeant Timothy Pierotti. “The investigation is ongoing, and we are committed to supporting the community affected by this tragedy.”
