Pradeep Sharma: From Encounter Specialist to Convicted Criminal

Pradeep Sharma News: Pradeep Sharma encounter specialist, has again made the headlines. Pradeep, who killed more than 100 people for the sake of encounters, has been sentenced to life imprisonment in the Lakhan Bhaiya encounter case. He has been in the news overall because of his career, personal life, police activities, social work and politics.

Mr. Sharma was suspended from the police department in August 2008 for his accused links with underworld Dawood Ibrahim. However, the charges were dropped because he was found not guilty. He was again arrested in 2010 for the case of a fake encounter with gangster Lakhan Bhaiya in 2006. Sharma was acquitted by the court on July 5, 2013, in a trial in a sessions court.

Pradeep Sharma’s Entry into Politics

Sharma joined the police force nine years after he was absolved of all charges. He resigned in 2019 while working as a senior police examiner in the Thane Crime Branch’s anti-extortion squad. In the 2019 Assembly Elections, the Shiv Sena welcomed Pradeep Sharma into their party. However, he lost his seat.

Prominent Cases of Pradeep Sharma

Sharma is a 1983 batch Maharashtra cop who has purportedly killed 112 criminals in 25 years of police administration. He was dismissed 2008 because of his alleged connections with the underworld and claims against his assets over Rs. 3000 Crore. Although his charges were dropped in 2009 because of lack of evidence and he was reinstated as an inspector, he was arrested in January 2010 in connection with the Lakhan Bhaiya killing and dismissed again. After his reinstation in 2013, Mr. Sharma was re-arrested in the Antilia Bomb Scare and Mansukh Hiran Murder Case in 2021.

Movie based on Pradeep Sharma

Pradeep Sharma’s life incidents have been portrayed in more than one film. Netflix documentary featured Pradeep Sharma in Mumbai Mafia: Police VS Underworld 2023; a Marathi film named Rege starred Mahesh Manjrekar as Pradeep Sharma. Also, in ‘Class of 83’, the role of Pramod Shukla was inspired by him. The movie profoundly portrays the encounters by Pradeep Sharma.
