“Stop Whingeing About The DRS”: Ex-Australia Star Slams Ben Stokes Over ‘Umpire’s Call’

The former Australia player differs in opinion with Ben Stokes when it comes to 'umpire's call'.

After England Test captain Ben Stokes opined that the ‘umpire’s call’ in a Decision Review System for an LBW dismissal should be removed, former Australia star Brad Hogg criticized the player by stating that he should not focus on complaining about it. While passing the remark, Hogg explained that the ‘umpire’s call’ could go in anyone’s favour so Stokes should not worry about it much. “They should take away ‘umpire’s call’ if I’m being perfectly honest,” England skipper Stokes told TalkSPORT after the third Test vs India in Rajkot.

Hogg, however, differs in opinion with Stokes when it comes to ‘umpire’s call’.

“For me, the more I think about it, the more I feel umpires call should be in there knowing that technology is slightly wrong. Yes, it might have cost you at certain stage of the game, but it could cost the opposition at some stage in the series as well. Stop whingeing about the DRS because it is the same for both sides,” said Hogg on his YouTube channel.

Bowling full tilt at nets raised hopes of Ben Stokes rolling his arms over in the fourth Test against India but the England captain on Thursday preferred to keep the suspense over his availability as a bowler in Ranchi.

Due to issues with his knee, Stokes has been playing only as a batter since the second Ashes Test last June. However, he was seen bowling extensively at the nets on the eve of the fourth Test.

Guests England trail 1-2 in the five-match Test series. They won the opener in Hyderabad before losing the second and third matches in Visakhapatnam and Rajkot.
