Video: Joe Biden confuses Hamas with ‘opposition’, corrects self when prompted

Joe Biden momentarily confused terror group Hamas with the term "opposition" when asked about ongoing hostage negotiations with Israel, but quickly corrected himself.

US President Joe Biden, during the latest press conference, appeared confused after he referred to the terror group Hamas as ‘Opposition‘. Biden’s mumbling speech, soon after his address on promoting the new border security bill, was widely shared on social media.

The US President was asked about the ongoing hostage negotiations between Hamas and Israel, to which he responded saying, “There has been a response from the opposition.”

Biden corrected himself after the reporter asked if he meant ‘Hamas‘.

“There is some movement, and I don’t wanna, I don’t wanna, let me choose my words — there’s some movement. There’s been a response from the, uh, there’s been a response from the opposition, but um…”, Joe Biden said.

Sounding confused about what he was supposed to say, Biden suddenly looked up to his left while getting much-needed guidance.

“Yes, I’m sorry, from Hamas,” he added, as the reporter prompted the terror group’s name.

Biden is already the oldest President to serve in office, and if he were elected to serve another four years, Biden would leave office at the age of 86.

This was not the first time the US President made a gaffe, which later went viral on social media.

Earlier, Biden, while addressing a crowd in Las Vegas, claimed he met former French president Francois Mitterrand, who died in January 1996.

“You know, right after I was elected, I went to what they call a G7 meeting, all the NATO leaders. And it was in… it was in the south of England. And I sat down and I said, “America is back”, read the transcript of Biden’s speech released by the White House.

“And Mitterrand from Germany. I mean, from France looked at me and said… said, ‘You know what, why, how long you back for?’ And I looked at him, and the… and the Chancellor of Germany said, ‘What would you say, Mr. President, if you picked up the paper tomorrow in the London Times, and London Times said, ‘A thousand people break through the House of Commons, break down the doors, two Bobbies are killed to stop the election of the Prime Minister.’ What would you say?’,” he added.

Earlier last year, Biden claimed 100 people, (instead of 1 million), died during the Covid-19 pandemic, which left behind “8 million people who were close to them.

In June 2023, The US President said Russian President Vladimir Putin was losing the war in “Iraq” instead of Ukraine.
