Xiaomi 14 series global launch teased for February 25: 5 things we already know about the smartphone
Xiaomi is ready to roll out its latest flagship series, the Xiaomi 14, for a global audience. With a focus on camera quality and a partnership with renowned camera lens manufacturer Leica, the series is set to launch on February 25 in India.
Xiaomi has finally confirmed the launch of its new flagship Xiaomi 14 series in India. The Chinese smartphone maker revealed in its recent post on X that the upcoming flagship series would launch on February 25, 2024. The post also teased a photo of a lens, hinting that the smartphones would have a strong focus on their cameras. Xiaomi has already launched its Xiaomi 14 series in China last year which includes two models – Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro.
In a previous post, Xiaomi India also announced that the new smartphones would “reimagine smartphone photography” as the company had partnered with Leica, which is known for its powerful camera lenses. Besides the partnership and hints towards powerful cameras, Xiaomi has kept everything under wrap. However, looking at the China variants, we already know what the series has to offer and it will be somewhat the same for the India variants.
Xiaomi 14 specifications
Here are 5 things we already know about the smartphone:
- Based on its Chinese variants, the Xiaomi 14 series runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, with up to 12 GB LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. The phone runs on the latest HyperOS pre-installed.
- Under the hood, the 14 Series has a 4,610 mAh battery that supports 90W wired, 50W wireless, and 10W wireless reverse charging.
- The smartphone features a stunning display, with a 6.36-inch 1.5K LTPO AMOLED screen that can go up to 120Hz refresh rate and 3000 nits peak brightness. This is similar to what we have seen on the iQOO 12 recently.
- The camera is the highlight of the smartphone, with a Leica-branded triple rear camera setup. It consists of a 50-megapixel Hunter 900 sensor with optical image stabilization, a 50-megapixel telephoto camera, and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera. The front camera is a 32-megapixel sensor.
- The Xiaomi 14 Pro also has a Titanium Metal Special Edition, which features a titanium metal frame- similar to the iPhone 15 and Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra- glass on both sides with Dragon Crystal technology, and an orange glow effect.
Xiaomi 14 price
The Xiaomi 14 series was launched in China in November 2023 with a starting price of CNY 3999 (about Rs 45,800) for the Xiaomi 14 and CNY 4999 (about Rs 56,800) for the Xiaomi 14 Pro. The Xiaomi 14 Pro also has a Titanium Metal Special Edition that costs CNY 6499 (about Rs 73,900).
According to Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun, the Xiaomi 14 series is one of the top smartphones since its launch. He also shared BCI statistics that reveal that Xiaomi became the market leader in November 2023 with more than 5.2 million activations and huge growth in the “high-end segment”.
