Poonam recognized that European and American companies were discarding large amounts of scrap paper to maintain their reputation for selling only the best quality products. These discarded heaps of paper were seen as liabilities, and millions of rupees were spent on their disposal. However, Poonam Gupta saw potential where others saw waste.

After ten months of intensive research, Poonam initiated her venture by sourcing scrap paper from companies across Italy, Finland, Sweden, and the United States.

Her journey as an entrepreneur took flight when she sealed her first deal with an Italian company. Promising to pay them later, she found a buyer in India and generated a remarkable revenue of Rs 40 lakh from just two containers of scrap paper. This initial success laid the foundation for her burgeoning empire.

The Official Begining

In 2004, Poonam Gupta officially registered her company, PG Paper, in Scotland, and her profits soared. However, the scale of her ambition demanded a partner who shared her vision. She turned to her husband, Puneet Gupta, who was earning an annual package of Rs 80 lakh at the time. Initially, Puneet declined, doubting that Poonam could afford him. To test the waters, she convinced him to join the business part-time for six months.

Changing the Time!

As the story goes, Puneet became deeply invested in the venture, and after half a year, he was ready to commit full-time. Poonam’s offer? A staggering salary of Rs 1.5 crore. The couple joined forces, and their business ventures expanded rapidly into construction, IT, and hospitality. Their combined efforts led to a remarkable achievement – a net worth exceeding Rs 1,000 crore. Yet, Poonam’s appetite for success remained insatiable. Her dream now is to see her company’s net worth reach a staggering Rs 1 lakh crore.

The Taste of Success

The Gupta duo currently owns nine companies with offices in seven different countries, a testament to their unceasing dedication and relentless pursuit of excellence. Poonam Gupta, who began her journey from her own home, established her headquarters in Customs House, Greenock, Scotland, in 2015. Her company portfolio includes PG World, SAPP Holdings, SAPP International, SAPP Property, EnVisage Dental Health, and Punav. Their annual turnover now stands at £60 million, and their business transactions span an impressive 60 countries.

Academic Journey

Poonam Gupta’s academic journey, beginning with a degree in Economics from SRCC Delhi and culminating in an MBA from Maastricht School of Management in Holland, equipped her with the knowledge and vision to shape her entrepreneurial path.
